On this blog you will find answers to many questions you might have about your new Lenovo Tablet.  
You will also find here the required steps that you need to take regarding

These tasks should be completed prior to the first full day of school for all, which is Monday, August 18, 2014.

Familiarize yourself with the tablet

Stylus Check

Check to see if your stylus works. If it does not, take your stylus to the Tab Lab after training or once school starts.  It may just need a new battery!  (The battery goes in top-first)

Initial Setup for 2014-2015 School Year

Initial Setup:
A) Take Tablet out of the box and open up the folio case
B) Turn on tablet by holding power button (top left) for a few seconds
C) Unlock tablet by sliding the lock to the far right of the circle
D) Look at two important settings:

1) Click settings button (see screen below)
    
2) Tap SECURITY (Left hand column)

3) Under DEVICE ADMINISTRATION (Right hand column), Unknown Sources is checked.  LEAVE THIS CHECKED AT ALL TIMES!  Otherwise, you might not be able to receive certain materials from your teachers
      
4) Tap LOCATION SERVICES (Left hand column)

5) LEAVE ALL THREE CHECK BOXES (Right hand column) CHECKED AT ALL TIMES!  This is how we help you locate your tablet if it is lost

 

Tap HOME icon (2nd icon in lower left), or push HOME button (top right button on front face), to return to the main screen.

E) FAVORITES:

1) Go to your internet browser (tap GLOBE icon in center of screen).

2) Once on your website (i.e. http://cchs11startup.blogspot.com/), tap the STAR icon (top right, left of the magnifying glass).

3) Tap OK to save the site.

4) To access favorites, tap the STAR-RIBBON in upper right (right of the magnifying glass). You will see screenshots of your favorite websites and default favorites. 

TURN OFF WORD PREDICTOR:

If you are typing and see words appear on the bottom (that are trying to predict what you're writing), you can turn off this feature by changing your default keyboard type.
 

Settings --> Language and Input --> Default --> choose English (US) - ANDROID keyboard.

  

Set up CCHS GMAIL E-Mail

Google Account Activation:
1) Open the Internet browser by tapping the GLOBE icon (in center of screen), or push GLOBE button on right (2nd from bottom, on front of tablet)

2) Go to www.google.com, and sign in (link is in upper right corner)  
3) Your userID is “FIRSTNAME.LASTNAME.20XX@corsairs.carmelhs.org”

(replace XX with your graduation year)

Password: “legaldept”

4) You will need to change your password the first time you log on.
(Write your email address and new password down on a piece of paper, in case you forget it)

5) Tap the HOME icon in the lower left corner of the screen (2nd icon), or press the HOME button on the right (top most button), to go back to main screen.

6) TAP THE SETTINGS ICON: 
7) TAP ACCOUNTS & SYNC (under PERSONAL section, 1st choice)
8) TAP “ADD ACCOUNT” (in upper right corner)
9) CHOOSE “GOOGLE” FOR TYPE
10) CHOOSE “EXISTING”
11) ADD YOUR USER ID (firstname.lastname.year@corsairs.carmelhs.org) AND PASSWORD

Warranty and Broken Tablets

The TAB LAB can help!

• If you experience ANY problems with your tablet, bring your tablet to the TAB LAB.  It is located in the 400 hallway, at the north crossroads where the 100, 200 and 300 hallways meet.
• If you break ANYTHING  - Bring it in!  We will make the experience as painless as possible.
• The tablets have a 3 year extended warranty plus accidental damage.  If you break something, it is most likely covered - so bring your broken things to the TAB LAB!  Non-working tablets and accessories can most likely be repaired or replaced at no charge! 

 

LOST ITEMS

 

It is important to remember that when you turn in your Tablet (when your enrollment at CCHS ends) you will be required to turn in all items given to you.  Phone chargers will not be accepted in place of the tablet-grade charger.

 

The prices to replace these items through the Carmel Bookstore are as follows:

  

Folio Keyboard case = $78.00

Stylus = $45.00

USB Charger = $29.00

USB Cable = $11.00

You can also purchase:

Microfiber Cleaning Cloth = $1.75

AAAA Batteries (for the stylus) = $1.50

 ** Prices are subject to change with or without notice

If you lose your tablet:

• Come to the TAB LAB right away to report it
• Mrs. G will try to help you track it down!
• Most lost tablets are found if they are reported lost immediately

CHARGING

• The chargers are very, very fragile so be very careful when plugging and unplugging your chargers
• It is a good idea to charge your tablet on a flat surface where the charger can also lay flat
